About This Opportunity
As the Voice Network Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring reliable and efficient voice network services across all UQ campuses. Working within the Infrastructure Operations Centre and project teams, you will develop and maintain voice standards, provide expert technical guidance, and ensure operational excellence. This position collaborates closely with teams across the University and contributes to the delivery of the University’s Technology Master Plan by ensuring voice services are robust, secure, and meet evolving business needs.
Key responsibilities will include:
o Develop and maintain University-wide voice network standards, design guidelines, and supporting documentation.
o Provide expert technical advice and support for voice network operations across all UQ locations.
o Manage voice-related service contracts, ensuring vendor performance meets agreed standards and obligations.
o Lead or contribute to voice-related IT projects and support the implementation of new technologies and improvements.

About You
o Qualifications in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience and/or education, ideally at postgraduate level or progressing toward it.
o Extensive experience with enterprise voice technologies, focused NEC voice solutions and PABX infrastructure.
o Experience in vendor management, including contract negotiation and ensuring compliance with service agreements.
o Proven ability to lead or contribute to IT projects, with strong consultation and coordination skills across varied stakeholders.
o Broad technical expertise in voice and data technologies such as PSTN, VoIP/SIP, PABX, cabling, and CLIP.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
o Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
o A proactive, innovative approach with strong organisational skills, including the ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines.
