Rockhampton

Posted: 11 March
Offer description

Looking to kick-start or grow your allied health career in vibrant Rockhampton? This Allied Health Assistant role is your chance to be part of something bigger — supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families while contributing to the goals of the CQHHS Health Equity Strategy 2022–2025.
Working closely with the team, you’ll provide hands-on clinical and administrative support, help deliver culturally safe, high-quality care, and build strong connections with community. If you’re a team player with great communication skills, solid healthcare knowledge and a genuine respect for culture, this is a meaningful role where you can truly make an impact.
Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.

About us:

At Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CQHHS), our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equity Strategy 2022–2025 isn't just a document — it's a promise in action. We're rolling up our sleeves to actively eliminate racism, discrimination and systemic barriers in healthcare, while boosting access to the services that matter most.

We're tackling the bigger picture too — the social, cultural and economic factors that shape health outcomes. Most importantly, we're walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities to co-design, co-deliver and co-implement services that are culturally safe, responsive and built to last.

About the role:

Aligned with the goals of the CQHHS Health Equity Strategy 2022–2025, this role is all about making a real difference for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and their families. Working side-by-side with the Senior Allied Health Clinician (Children and Families), you'll provide hands-on clinical and administrative support to help deliver high-level, culturally appropriate care that truly meets community needs. Guided by clear supervision and direction, you'll confidently take on delegated clinical tasks and play an important part in creating a supportive, culturally safe environment where kids and families can thrive.

About you:
* Under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community.
* You have a genuine understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures — and the confidence to bring that cultural awareness into everyday practice.
* You have a solid foundation in allied health know-how — from navigating the healthcare system and medical terminology to understanding common conditions, basic anatomy and using technology with ease.
* You have strong people skills, with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals, families and communities — while building positive networks with other services and health professionals.
What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $82,130 p.a. is comprised of:

* An hourly rate between $34.53 - $36.30 p.h.
* 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
* 17.5% leave loading

Additional Benefits

* Ongoing Professional Development and Education Opportunities
* Flexible Work-Life Balance and Variety
* Generous Salary Sacrificing Options
* Paid Parental Leave
* Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
