Position Information


Maimuru Public School is a small rural school located between Young and Grenfell proudly sitting on Wiradjuri Country. The school's current enrolment of 11 students are at the core of school-wide decision making, which is strengthened and complemented by strong partnerships with student's families and community. Maimuru Public School fosters a culture of high expectations, and the learning programs are personalised to support a range of diverse learners. Maimuru Public School's aspirational motto, 'Success through Striving', is at the heart of everyday school life.

Staff at Maimuru Public School are committed to continuous school improvement to deliver a broad and high-quality curriculum to all students in an enjoyable, supportive and stimulating learning environment. Students have high levels of access to technology and a range of leadership opportunities.

The school is a proud member of the Young Small Schools Learning Community (YSSLC) and is involved with academic, sporting and cultural activities organised between the schools.

Maimuru Public School has a strong music program with all students receiving weekly music tuition with a music teacher from the Young Regional Conservatorium.


Selection Criteria


In addition to the general selection criteria,

* Approval to teach infants and/or primary and an understanding of the role of a Teaching Principal and a proven capacity to expertly lead continuous school improvement and innovation built on collaboration and reflective practice.
* Demonstrated understanding of the opportunities and challenges leading a small rural school in order to successfully maximise learning experiences and outcomes for all students.
* Demonstrated strong pedagogical knowledge of current educational practice and a relentless commitment to increasing student achievement by embedding strong professional learning processes.
* Demonstrated ability to maintain and foster positive connections with parents, staff, network schools and the wider school community.


General Selection Criteria


1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people


Conditions


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2017 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. Please view information on the Classification structure for Principals at

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Teaching Principal Level TP1 for 2026.

Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
