We are seeking Research Support Officers (Records Archivists) to support information and records management activities within a Commonwealth environment.
The role focuses on the review, classification, sentencing, and disposal of records in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, whole-of-government information management policies, and agency standards.
Successful candidates will work closely with information and records management teams to ensure records are appropriately classified, retained, and disposed of using Content Manager (TRIM) and Microsoft 365.
This role suits professionals with experience in digital records management, archival processes, and government compliance frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
* Review digital and physical records to ensure they are appropriately classified and sentenced in accordance with approved Records Authorities
* Apply classification and sentencing to digital files using Content Manager (TRIM) and Microsoft 365
* Identify records that have reached or exceeded their retention period
* Prepare records for disposal, including documentation and approvals required under legislation and policy
* Conduct disposal activities in accordance with authorised disposal schedules and procedures
* Maintain accurate documentation and records of disposal activities undertaken
* Collaborate with the Information and Records Management team to ensure consistent information management practices
* Provide guidance to business areas regarding records classification, retention, and sentencing requirements
* Contribute to the improvement of records and information management processes and documentation
* Support audits, compliance reviews, and reporting related to records management activities
* Demonstrated experience in records or archives management in a digital environment
* Knowledge of the Archives Act 1983 and Australian Government records management requirements
* Experience applying records classification and sentencing using approved disposal authorities
* Experience using Content Manager (TRIM)
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

* Candidates must hold a current Baseline security clearance or be re‐statable
