Bendigo South East College is a 7-10 secondary school in regional Victoria. The College encourages the pursuit of excellence by all members of our learning community and offers a comprehensive curriculum based on the Victorian F-10 Framework. Students at Years 8, 9 and 10 have choice in their subject selections, including specialisms in sports (ADP) and the arts (ACA). At Year 10, VCE and VET subjects are also available.
The College's student support structure consists of Year Level Leaders, House Advisors, Group Advisors, the Student Support Team and the Principal team. In addition to Assistant Principals, the Timetabler and Daily Organiser, Heads of Curriculum, Learning Specialists and staff responsible for Special Learning Programs, Information Technology and Pathways advice.
Selection Criteria

Role
An education support class position performs tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy under supervision and direction. This may include coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational programme. The role supports the educational services provided to students but does not include duties of a teacher, as defined in Clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act **** (Vic) or its successor. Supervision of students may be required individually or in groups of up to four in controlled circumstances, with responsibility for students remaining clearly with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required at this level. A role at this range may include:
Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes, such as ensuring data is properly maintained or coordinating a work area under the direction of the principal or a manager.
Assisting teachers within an educational programme by undertaking specific support tasks or coordinating the support function.
Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks, medical intervention support tasks or other specialised student/teacher support roles, requiring specific qualifications and training.
Technical tasks requiring knowledge of basic technical and/or scientific principles used to develop and adapt work methods, such as routine technical support in libraries, science or information technology.
At base level the position will initially be limited to routine tasks carried out under close supervision and direction. Work that carries an element of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed regularly where priorities are clear, procedures are well established and direction is readily available. Subject to specific qualification and training requirements, an employee may progressively undertake coordination, specialised support tasks or technical tasks as experience increases.
Responsibilities
Provide routine clerical or other administrative support, including telephone, front-office enquiries, mail deliveries, stock control and meeting support.
Maintain, enter and retrieve data from the school's IT systems, such as the records system, including computerised student, staff and school records.
Maintain and update office records, enrolment data, diary records and basic written records.
Support or coordinate the preparation of standard routine internal and external communication according to school procedures (e.g., form letters, newsletters).
Coordinate delivery of administrative services within the school.
Determine and manage work priorities within the school office in consultation with the Business Manager.
Develop and implement strategies to ensure effective administrative procedures.
Support acquisition of purchasing requirements within school policy and procedures.
Manage client reception and office operations.
Liaise with school staff regarding support requirements.
Backup support for VASS and/or VET administration.
Assist in delivering first aid to students and student services.
Monitor and maintain visitor sign-in/out system.
Provide backup support to Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable roles.
Complete other duties as directed by the Principal.
