About the Role
Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) are responsible for managing the front desk, patient interactions, and various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of a site. They play a vital role in creating a positive first impression and facilitating efficient communication between patients, staff, and radiologists.
Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) have attention to detail; professional communication skills and know how to use patient information systems. They must also understand the importance of confidentiality and ensure that patient information is kept confidential.
The duties of Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) include:
Greeting and welcoming patients and visitors, making appointments or checking‑in patients attending for their scheduled imaging appointments.
Using patient information systems; capturing relevant information and confirming that patients understand the costs associated with their imaging services, if any.
Following policies and procedures.
Answering inquiries and providing general information about the imaging services and related matters.
Billing patients including private and third parties (including Medicare, DVA and workers’ compensation).
Maintaining the reception area.
Performing other administration tasks such as word processing, data entry, filing, mail dispatch, scanning and photocopying.
Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) must have the following skills and abilities:
Ability to build rapport with patients quickly and show a genuine concern and empathy for their wellbeing.
Exceptional communication skills.
Advanced computer skills including working across multiple screens and systems.
Ability to work as a positive team player or independently.
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
Manage competing priorities.
Our Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) work from our 10 practices in the ACT and surrounding NSW. While Medical Receptions (Patient Administration Assistant) are assigned a home practice, they may be required to work from different sites in support of operational needs.
Comprehensive training will be provided to ensure that Medical Receptionists (Patient Administration Assistant) succeed and complete tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
Please note that while these positions are full‑time, Canberra Imaging will consider part‑time work arrangements (i.e. working Monday to Thursday).
