Oversee investment operations for a $37 billion fund serving NSW's public sector
SAS Trustee Corporation, known as State Super, manages $37 billion in assets for more than 86,000 members across four defined benefit superannuation schemes serving NSW Government employees. As a trusted guardian of retirement savings for public servants, police officers, and state authority employees, it maintains the highest standards of investment governance and operational excellence. Its sophisticated investment structure includes a Defined Benefit portfolio managed by NSW Treasury Corporation (TCorp) and a Defined Contribution portfolio managed through Frontier Advisers, supported by JP Morgan as the global custodian. This complexity demands rigorous oversight, robust controls, and exceptional stakeholder management.
The Role
As Senior Manager, Investment Control, you will provide day-to-day oversight of investment operations delivered by the Custodian, Master Investment Manager, and other key third parties. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will manage critical vendor relationships with JP Morgan and TCorp, monitoring service delivery against SLAs and ensuring investment operations protect fund assets while meeting financial obligations accurately and efficiently. Leading a team of senior analysts, you'll deliver custody, performance, and investment operations reporting to the Board, Investment Committee, and regulatory bodies, while overseeing the operational implementation of new investments for our DC portfolio.
What We're Looking For
You possess extensive, current knowledge of superannuation industry regulatory requirements, global investment market operations and products, and investment management structures. Your expertise spans custody and administrator operations, securities and foreign currency trading, and domestic and global accounting and tax regimes as they apply to asset recording.
You demonstrate advanced capabilities in delivering results, managing complex stakeholder relationships, and solving problems through objective critical analysis. Your financial acumen operates at a highly advanced level, complemented by strong procurement and contract management skills. Leading one other person, you will demonstrate integrity while displaying resilience and courage in challenging situations. You'll have the ability to inspire direction and optimise business outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills enable you to effectively negotiate with diverse stakeholders. You hold relevant professional qualifications in accounting, finance, or law, and understand complex investment management agreements and mandates.
If you're ready to apply your investment operations expertise in a role that directly protects the retirement security of NSW's public servants, we want to hear from you.
