Overview
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is key to achieving our goal of providing customers with one of the best digital experiences of any company globally. Our teams ensure that our systems maintain the highest standards of service outcomes for our customers, enabling seamless execution of our award-winning banking apps. Our SRE team blends software engineering principles with operational services and applies industry-wide methodologies around observability.
Responsibilities
* As a Principal Software Engineer in our SRE team, design and implement large-scale solutions and influence and engage senior stakeholders on modern best practices for improving reliability across the SDLC.
* Partner with senior stakeholders and lead a culture of data-driven reliability, monitoring and automation aligned to SRE principles.
* Design, develop, test and support applications and systems; scale distributed systems in public, private or hybrid cloud environments; create tools to support operational management and security of software applications and systems.
Qualifications and Experience we’re seeking
* Experts in partnering with senior stakeholders and leading a data-driven reliability culture with monitoring and automation aligned to SRE principles.
* Deep experience designing, developing, testing and supporting applications and systems.
* Passionate about managing and scaling distributed systems in cloud environments (public, private or hybrid).
* Experience creating tools to support operational management (including security) of software applications and systems.
* Able to identify technology limitations and deficiencies and use software engineering to develop scalable and sustainable improvements.
Skills
* Software engineering; expert in at least one programming language (e.g., Golang, Python).
* Experience with modern software development practices and CI/CD tools; strong public cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Splunk, AppDynamics).
* Extensive knowledge of Linux internals, networking, containers, and troubleshooting.
* Experience applying SRE practices in large organisations with strong communication and problem-solving skills.
