Position summary
Join our innovative Research and Development team as a Mechanical Engineer, where you'll play a pivotal role in revolutionising robotics cleaning solutions for diverse industries. As a key contributor, you'll leverage your expertise in designing bespoke machinery, combining hydraulic, electronic, and mechanical systems to tackle challenging conditions. Utilise SolidWorks to transform concepts into detailed manufacturing designs, ensuring compliance with AS and ISO standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions, manage design data with PDM systems, and provide technical support during equipment installation and operation.
About the role
Utilize SolidWorks to develop designs from concept through to manufacture, including creating detailed manufacturing drawings.
Perform calculations to validate designs and produce design reports.
Interface with key local suppliers to ensure seamless integration of components.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, and project management to deliver integrated solutions.
Prepare and present technical reports, design reviews, and project updates to stakeholders in consultation with your team.
Utilize PDM systems to manage design data, track revisions, and ensure version control.
Maintain accurate documentation of design changes, approvals, and project milestones.
Analyze test data and iterate designs based on findings to achieve optimal performance and reliability.
Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and operation of equipment.
About the candidate
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly with a background in manufacturing / OEM.
Proven experience in using SolidWorks for mechanical design and modelling.
Familiarity with PDM systems and best practices for data management.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, especially for low volume local manufacturing.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience in designing bespoke machinery for challenging conditions.
In-depth knowledge of AS and ISO standards relevant to mechanical design, drawings, and safety.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and project management, to deliver integrated solutions.
Practical hands-on skills and out-of-the-box thinking.
Experience with full project cycle, from concept to manufacture, including creating detailed manufacturing drawings.
Ability to perform calculations to validate designs and produce design reports.
Experience in interfacing with key local suppliers and maintaining accurate documentation of design changes, approvals, and project milestones.
Ability to analyse test data and iterate designs based on findings to achieve optimal performance and reliability.
