About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our public practice team and take a lead role in delivering high‐quality accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys client interaction and is keen to contribute to the continued growth of our firm. You'll work closely with business owners, families, and local organisations, providing practical advice that genuinely makes a difference.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of clients across various industries
* Prepare financial statements, BAS/IAS, FBT, and income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts, and SMSFs
* Provide tax planning, structuring advice, and general business advisory services
* Assist with workflow management and contribute to improving practice processes
* Mentor and support junior team members
* Build strong client relationships through clear communication and proactive service
About You
You're a confident, client‐focused accounting professional with strong technical knowledge and a genuine interest in helping clients succeed. You enjoy problem‐solving, collaborating with colleagues, and staying up to date with changes in tax and accounting standards.
You're technically strong and a client focused accounting professional but just as importantly, you're personable, reliable, and enjoy being part of and collaborating with your team. Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree in Accounting, Commerce, or related field
* CPA/CA qualified (or near completion)
* 4–6+ years' experience in a public practice environment
* Strong knowledge of Australian tax legislation and compliance requirements
* Experience with client accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, Quickbooks, Reckon and similar programs
* Experience with MYOB practice accounting software is preferred but not essential
* Excellent communication skills and a client‐focused approach
* Strong attention to detail, time‐management skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines
