The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll lead and coordinate the electrical engineering scope across complex, multi-disciplinary power systems projects. At Actemium, design and delivery are integrated - you'll be involved from concept development through to commissioning and operational handover.
You'll work within a technically agile team, contributing to projects that span high-voltage infrastructure, industrial automation, and energy transition technologies. Your role will combine technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and client-facing collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute power systems studies including:
* Load flow, fault level, protection coordination, harmonic analysis, arc flash, and fault loop impedance
* Develop earthing system designs in accordance with IEEE 80 and ENA EG0/EG1 standards
* Produce detailed engineering deliverables:
* Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), schematics, general arrangements (GAs), equipment schedules, and cable routing layouts
* Review and validate engineering outputs to ensure compliance with client specifications, industry standards, and project requirements
* Conduct root cause analysis and technical investigations into equipment performance, faults, and compliance issues
* Support site-based activities including commissioning, functional testing, and troubleshooting
* Prepare technical documentation and reports:
* Power system modelling (e.g., PTW32), protection settings, cable sizing, and compliance assessments
Project Portfolio Includes:-
High Voltage Substations and Distribution:
Engineering and delivery of HV/MV substations, distribution networks, and associated protection and control systems. Includes primary and secondary design, grid compliance, and integration with utility and industrial infrastructure.
Renewable Energy Systems and Storage Integration:
Design and implementation of renewable generation (solar PV, wind, hybrid systems) integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Projects include grid-forming and grid-following BESS, embedded networks, and microgrids for industrial precincts and remote operations. Scope covers grid connection studies, protection coordination, and compliance with DNSP and AEMO requirements.
Water and Wastewater Infrastructure:
Electrical and control systems for treatment plants, pump stations, and SCADA integration, including functional safety and redundancy design.
Industrial Automation and Control Upgrades:
Modernisation of instrumentation, PLC/SCADA systems, and motor control centres (MCCs) across mining, manufacturing, and utilities.
About You
You're a Senior Electrical Engineer who wants to shape projects that power industries, not just model them. You know the difference between design intent and operational reality.
You know your way around substations, protection studies and power system models in the Australian power industry. You're RPEQ, or close to it. You've led projects, guided a team and you're comfortable taking the reins when things get complex.
Essentially you will have Australian residency, a Construction Industry White Card (or eligibility) and C Class drivers licence.
