Our client is a well-established national supplier of medical equipment seeking a proven Corporate & Commercial Lawyer to be their 'safe pair of hands' in a rewarding 12-month contract role.
About this role...
Based in their Melbourne office (conveniently located on the city fringe), you will be the Group's sole legal practitioner working directly with key internal and external stakeholders, such as the CEO, Executive Management Team, external advisors, suppliers, and service providers. Reporting to the Chief Performance & Culture Manager, this will be an autonomous role with the primary function of managing the Group's legal framework and legal risks and providing generalist legal advice on a broad range of issues. Key responsibilities will therefore include:
1. Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements
2. Corporate governance
3. Provide legal advice to various departments
4. Manage and mitigate legal risks relating to the company's operations
5. Assist with transactions (e.g. mergers & acquisitions)
6. Maintain records and filing of contracts, agreements, and other legal materials
7. Develop and implement risk management procedures
About you...
Ideal candidates will have:
1. Between 4-5 years post admission experience gained within an In-house Corporate or Commercial law environment;
2. Strong knowledge and experience with corporate law, contract law, leasing, competition law, and regulatory compliance
3. Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
4. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities
5. Highly developed and effective communication skills (written & verbal)
6. Strong attention to detail
7. Ability to balance commercial business requirements with internal control and regulatory demands.
8. Commitment to attending the office 5 days a week
