Join our team in Sydney or Melbourne as a AML Operation Specialist.
We are seeking a AML Operation Specialist to support and strengthen our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program. This role is suited to an experienced AML professional who can develop and uplift AML frameworks, drive implementation plans, and partner with key business stakeholders to ensure our AML obligations are met effectively.
You will play a key role in building and maintaining our AML policies, procedures, controls, monitoring, and reporting while also contributing to broader compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to financial services.
Key Responsibilities
AML Framework, Policy & Program Ownership
* Lead the development, review, and enhancement of the company's AML/CTF framework, including policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Ensure ongoing alignment with AML/CTF legislative and regulatory requirements, including AUSTRAC obligations and industry best practices.
* Translate regulatory requirements into practical and scalable implementation plans across systems, operations, customer onboarding, and ongoing monitoring.
* Maintain and improve AML program documentation including risk assessments, control frameworks, and governance records.
Monitoring, Reviews & Reporting
* Conduct AML compliance monitoring reviews and assurance checks (including thematic reviews where relevant).
* Support the investigation and management of AML-related matters such as unusual activity, high-risk customers, ongoing due diligence and enhanced due diligence.
* Assist with preparation of internal compliance reports for senior management, governance committees, and key stakeholders.
* Support external engagement and reporting where required (e.g. regulatory responses, audit requests).
Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management
* Partner with key stakeholders across Operations, Customer Support, Payments, Risk, Trading, Product, and Technology to embed AML requirements into business processes.
* Provide practical guidance to stakeholders on AML obligations and best practices.
* Act as a key point of contact for AML-related compliance questions and implementation initiatives.
* Design and deliver AML/financial crime training to staff to support ongoing awareness and consistent compliance practices.
* Contribute to building a strong financial crime compliance culture across the organisation.
Key Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field (preferred).
* Minimum 3+ years' experience in AML/CTF, financial crime compliance, or a related risk role.
* Strong working knowledge of AML obligations and controls (e.g. KYC/CDD/EDD, OCDD) ongoing due diligence, transaction monitoring, risk assessments, governance and reporting)).
* Proven experience in policy drafting, framework uplift, and program implementation.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience working cross-functionally to implement compliance initiatives.
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with strong documentation and reporting capability.
* Strong communication skills and ability to influence outcomes across teams.
Industry Experience
* FX/CFD experience is preferred, but we also welcome candidates from other regulated financial services sectors such as banking, payments, fintech, remittance, or wealth management.
Nice to Have (Highly Regarded)
* Experience supporting regulatory exams, external audits, or independent reviews relating to AML/CTF.
* Exposure to systems implementation or optimisation (e.g. onboarding tools, screening solutions, transaction monitoring platforms).
* Experience working in fast-paced environments where ambiguity exists and strong ownership is required.
* Relevant certifications (e.g. CAMS) are advantageous.
