What's the role?
Reporting to the General Manager of Finance for The Australian & Prestige mastheads (TA&P), Technology, Data & Digital (TDD), Investment Management (IM) & Corporate Functions, this role will be responsible for the management and oversight of the Investment Management process across the business.
Responsibilities
* Facilitating and managing the annual investment budget process, including setting the timeline, communicating the process and putting forward a recommendation for the business’ capital allocation.
* Utilising portfolio insight and influencing skills to ensure News Corp Australia is maximising return on invested capital and investing in the right areas.>
* Being a key contact for investment related questions and ensuring alignment between the financial accounting, commercial finance and technology teams.
* Performing detailed reviews of business cases to assess alignment to company strategy, reviewing compliance with financial hurdles, identifying commercial benefits and risks and impact to the latest financial forecasts.
* Preparing quarterly reforecasts of the investment portfolio and forecast cash flows, highlighting risks and assessing ability to add new items to the roadmap.
* Ensuring all investment monthly and quarterly reporting is completed on time, including ELT reporting packs and New York submissions.
* Approving and monitoring one‑off project opex within budgeted allowance.
* Monitoring the future pipeline of investments to ensure visibility and timely submissions.
* Working closely with the wider commercial finance group and the Strategy and Project Management Office (PMO) so they understand the requirements of the investment process.
* Maintaining the overall IM governance including system improvements and policy ownership.
* Ad‑hoc work as required.
Who are you?
* You will be a CA/CPA qualified finance professional who has had Commercial and/or Corporate Finance experience in FMCG, retail, media or a similar industry.
* Strong written and verbal communication, with an ability to distil and articulate key messages to the ELT.
* Process management experience, demonstrating the ability to think ahead and plan key tasks.
* High impact self‑starting individual, resourceful and solution‑driven.
* Excellent financial acumen, with experience in business case development, financial modelling, procurement outcomes and partnering & influencing.
* Experience working in a complex matrix environment will be advantageous.
