Engineering Team Lead - DDD & Event-Driven Systems Sydney | Hybrid | $195k Super This is a role for senior engineers who've outgrown just being a Tech Lead - but don't want to disappear into spreadsheets and people ops. You'll lead a team of 7-8 highly capable engineers, stay technically hands-on, and focus on removing friction so great engineers can do their best work. Think second layer of engineering leadership - a step before full Engineering Manager. The environment is deeply technical: DDD, event-driven architecture, clean code, strong CS fundamentals. What you'll actually do Lead 7-8 engineers with a mix of line management and technical leadership. Start ~10-20% hands-on coding, increasing to 30-40% as systems and processes are streamlined. Act as the technical conscience of the team - architecture, quality, and decision-making. Remove obstacles, prioritise support work, and keep delivery flowing without burning people out. Partner closely with Product, Principal Engineers, and Engineering Management. Lift engineering maturity through better process, not bureaucracy. The kind of engineer this suits You're a senior .NET engineer who still cares deeply about writing excellent code. You're fluent in Domain-Driven Design, event-driven systems, and clean architecture.
