Vidico is looking for an Associate Art Director to join our team in Melbourne and help define the creative vision across our projects and ensure every piece of work meets our standards of craft, clarity, and impact.
At Vidico, we create high-quality animation, live-action, and design work for global brands. We value strong storytelling, thoughtful design, and collaborative problem-solving — and we're looking for someone who can lead creatively while still staying close to the work.
As an Associate Art Director, you will:
* Shape and contribute to the creative vision of projects, ensuring work aligns with client objectives and brand standards
* Develop and refine creative concepts alongside strategy, accounts, and production teams
* Review storyboards, design concepts, and edits, providing clear, constructive feedback that elevates the final output
* Apply strong design principles and storytelling techniques across animation and live-action projects
* Support and mentor creative team members through collaboration and thoughtful creative direction
* Support client communications, including presentations, feedback sessions, and creative reviews
* Work closely with project leads to help manage timelines, scope, and creative delivery
* Build strong relationships with external collaborators such as illustrators, animators, storyboard artists, and voice-over talent
* Step into a producer role when required — managing projects end-to-end, coordinating suppliers, schedules, and budgets to ensure successful delivery

* Reviewed and refined storyboards for an animated campaign, strengthening narrative flow and visual clarity
* Provided detailed creative feedback on design and animation work-in-progress to raise overall quality
* Collaborated with strategy and account teams to develop a strong creative direction for a new client brief
* Joined a client presentation to help articulate creative rationale and guide feedback discussions
* Supported a project lead to ensure creative delivery stayed on track, on brief, and within scope
Skills, education & experience
* 3+ years' experience in a creative role
* Demonstrated experience contributing to creative concept development for animation, video, or design projects
* Strong understanding of visual storytelling, layout, typography, and design principles
* Confidence reviewing creative work and providing clear, constructive feedback to improve outcomes
* Working knowledge of animation and live-action production workflows
* Familiarity with tools such as Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop)
* Formal qualifications in design, animation, or a related creative discipline are valued, but strong experience and a relevant portfolio are just as important.
