About the Role:

This is a part-time contract opportunity working 63 hours/ fortnight located in Port Kembla. - Contract until May 2027


About the opportunity

Uniting Newpin are currently seeking an Administration and Program Support Worker to join our dedicated Newpin team in Port Kembla. This is a rewarding opportunity where you will provide day-to-day support to the Newpin team and program, which focuses on helping children in being restored to their parents in a supportive therapeutic environment.

The ideal candidate will be a motivated, sensitive, and nurturing individual who is passionate about supporting families through challenging circumstances. You thrive in a team environment and are committed to fostering a safe and supportive space for children and parents to grow, develop and heal. We are looking for someone who can work with a trauma-responsive lens, ensuring the well-being of both children and parents.

In this role you will also provide administration support and back of house coordination to the team and the centre coordinator. You are positive and adaptable, capable of responding to the evolving needs of the program and bring a flexible, can-do attitude, particularly when balancing both administrative tasks, support duties such as transport of families and or assist with playgroups.

You possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to apply these skills across a variety of engagements with participants, families, children, external stakeholders, service providers, government agencies, your team members and the broader leadership team.

Who are we?

Newpin - New Parent and Infant Network program is a centre based therapeutic restoration program that supports and empowers families under stress, by breaking the cycles of adversity, to providing safe, nurturing environments for children and fostering healthier parent-child relationships Newpin specialises in engaging parents whose children are in the NSW foster/kinship care system where restoration is seen as a possibility. Parents, children and staff work together towards restoration under the Newpin core values of Safety, Equity, Empathy, respect and self-determination.

What you need to succeed:

A minimum Cert IV in Business Admin and / or Community Services

* Understanding of child protection issues and the ability to identify and address these issues with families when required.
* Understanding of the impact of trauma and experience working with families/ children who have been affected by trauma
* Exceptional Administrative skills and high-level proficiency in MS Office (particularly Outlook, MS Word and Excel).
* Understanding of culturally safe and sensitive service delivery
* Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with colleagues (internal and external).
* Current driver’s license and commitment to transporting families in organisational vehicles. Transporting families is an important element of this position.
* Comply with NSW Working with Children Check and National Police History Check requirements.
* A demonstrated commitment to social change and contributing to an organisation that advocates for the most disadvantaged.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families are overrepresented in this program and within the child protection system. Appropriate cultural knowledge and understanding is important to deliver effectively in this role. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged.
