This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2025
Halls Head College is an Independent Public School which caters for the very diverse needs of students. We are uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. Our partner primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road.

The Role
Halls Head College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, innovative and hardworking Student Support Teacher to work collaboratively within our Student Services Team. The position would be ideal for aspirant teachers with a background in Student Services who want to develop their skills and knowledge in this area with a view to gaining future leadership positions in a secondary school or within the Department of Education more broadly.
The successful applicant should be an enthusiastic and highly focussed individual with effective leadership, communication and behaviour management skills. You should have the ability to form effective working relationships and have a strong interest in supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of students.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively with the Student Services Manager and Team, school officer support staff and the wider community by developing and promoting programs that promote a sense of belonging, support the College priorities and create a positive and inclusive College culture. The successful applicant will assist in maintaining the day-to-day operations of Student Services as well as for major school events. The successful applicant should be resilient, approachable, empathetic, reflective and seek advice and support in stressful situations.
The role will include Students at Education Risk (SAER) oversight, providing support for at risk students for behavioural, academic, social and emotional reasons. They will plan and implement effective interventions and modified or engagement programs tailored to meet the needs of individuals and groups needing additional support within their cohort. Understanding of trauma informed practice and past experience in the student support space with at risk students would be advantageous.
Teaching around Gatekeeper and First Aid is preferable but not essential. Building clear expectations, clear communication, team work and vision around creating innovative solutions to building positive, supportive and safe school communities will be highly regarded. Engaging every student in educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their personal best and equip them will skills for success beyond school is our goal for every student. With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant should work closely with students, colleagues, parents and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students.
This role includes a possible 0.2FTE teaching load.
