About the Role
The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) is seeking aClinical Educator(Lecturer in Teaching and Research) forNursing.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position until December 2026.
You will play a vital part in enhancing rural clinical training experiences for nursing students in collaboration with the WA Country Health Service and the Royal Flying Doctor Service Western Operations.
The position requires ongoing professional development to stay current with trends in nursing education.
Your responsibilities
Oversee the placement of nursing students in clinical settings, ensuring enriching experiences and monitoring their progress.
Provide direct support and guidance during placements and maintain high educational standards.
Lead professional development initiatives for nurse supervisors and foster collaboration among clinical educators.
Assess and improve educational programs through feedback and quality improvement initiatives.
Engage with stakeholders, including Curtin School of Nursing, to enhance nursing education and culturally responsive healthcare.
Who we are looking for
A qualification in a relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
Demonstrated high-level teaching skills and effective clinical supervision and mentorship across multiple settings.
A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice, and the ability to implement clinical training programs for nursing health science students.
Experience to undertake unit coordination and training sessions to enhance clinical education practices.
Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills with a commitment to a collegial and supportive working environment and cross-cultural sensitivity.
Commitment to applying relevant policies, procedures and legislation in daily performance of the role.
Strong professional networks and ability to develop new collaborative relationships with industry partners.
Experience in Aboriginal and rural and remote health is essential.
Understanding of the health care environment and workforce challenges within the Goldfields – Esperance region is desirable but not essential.
Role Requirements
As a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction.
Must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
Unrestricted AHPRA Registration.
Possess a current WA driver's license.

University Departments of Rural Health (UDRH) are academic centres based in rural and remote Australia.
The Goldfields University Department of Rural Health (GUDRH) aims to strengthen the supply, capability, and impact of healthcare graduates in the Goldfields region and help address healthcare disparities in rural communities.
Operated by Curtin University in collaboration with the WA Country Health Service and the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations), GUDRH receives funding from the Department of Health and Aged Care under the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
The GUDRH focuses on:
Raising awareness of and fostering access to health science careers
Providing enriching rural placements for current health science students
Supporting the enhancement of local health professionals' capabilities, especially in clinical supervision
Conducting rurally relevant research
Expansion of health science degrees and qualifications at the Kalgoorlie Campus
The activities are underpinned by interprofessional learning to promote collaborative care, prioritising Aboriginal health and culturally safe practices.
