Position Purpose The Supply Chain Manager is accountable for the operational execution of the end-to-end supply chain function at the Dooen manufacturing facility. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this role translates the site operations strategy into integrated supply chain plans covering: Raw material and procurement management Production and demand planning Inventory management Freight, 3PL warehousing and cold storage Domestic logistics and distribution The role ensures operational stability, working capital optimisation, service reliability, and cost discipline in alignment with the strategic direction set by the Director of Operations. 2. Key Accountabilities 3.1 Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) Execution Lead monthly S&OP cycle in collaboration with Sales, Production and Finance. Ensure forecast alignment with production capacity and raw material availability. Identify supply constraints and recommend mitigation strategies. Maintain forecast accuracy and planning integrity. 3.2 Raw Material & Procurement Management Partner with Agronomy/Potato Manager and assist with maintaining a reliable supply of potatoes. Manage procurement of ingredients, packaging and indirect materials. Negotiate supplier agreements within delegated authority. Monitor supplier performance, cost trends and risk exposure. Escalate major commercial exposures to the Director of Operations. 3.3 Inventory & Working Capital Control Maintain optimal stock levels across raw materials, WIP and finished goods. Deliver inventory accuracy ≥ 99%. Reduce obsolete, aged and slow-moving stock. Drive improvements in inventory turns and cash conversion cycle. Provide monthly reporting on working capital metrics. 3.4 Warehousing & Logistics Performance Oversee warehouse operations including cold storage integrity. Ensure Deliver In Full On Time (DIFOT) ≥ 98%. Manage third-party logistics providers and freight contracts. Drive transport efficiency and cost per tonne optimisation. Ensure full traceability compliance. 3.5 Financial & Budget Accountability Develop and manage the supply chain operating budget. Deliver performance within approved cost parameters. Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives. Support capital expenditure business cases relating to logistics or warehousing infrastructure. 3.6 Systems, Compliance & Continuous Improvement Ensure ERP/MRP data integrity. Embed KPI dashboards and performance reporting cadence. Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned to site objectives. Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. 3.7 Leadership & Culture Build and lead a high-performing supply chain team. Establish clear performance expectations and KPIs. Promote cross-functional collaboration. Foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement. Develop succession capability within the function. 4. Key Performance Indicators DIFOT ≥ 98% Inventory accuracy ≥ 99% Inventory turns within target Forecast accuracy in line with business targets Freight cost per tonne within budget Working capital improvement year-on-year Supplier OTIF performance ≥ 98% 5. Authority Procurement and freight contract negotiation within delegated limits. Approval of operational supply chain expenditure within budget. Recommendation of capital investment proposals to Director of Operations. Authority to halt supply or logistics operations where safety or compliance risk exists. 6. Qualifications & Experience Essential Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business or related field. 7–10 years’ experience in manufacturing supply chain leadership. Strong S&OP and inventory management expertise. Experience managing warehousing and logistics functions. ERP/MRP systems proficiency. Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams. Desirable Experience in food manufacturing or agricultural processing. Cold chain logistics experience. Lean / Six Sigma certification. Experience in greenfield/start-up manufacturing environments. SAP experience 7.
