Supporting Individuals with Disabilities
The role of a Support Professional involves providing personal care and daily living support to individuals with disabilities. This includes assisting with bathing, dressing, repositioning, and toileting. The Support Professional must also follow detailed care plans for individuals with spinal injuries, brain injuries, and epilepsy.
One of the key aspects of this role is building meaningful relationships with individuals and their families. This requires empathy, patience, and understanding. As a Support Professional, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities.
* Providing personal care and daily living support, including assistance with bathing, dressing, and toileting.
* Following detailed care plans for individuals with spinal injuries, brain injuries, and epilepsy.
* Building meaningful relationships with individuals and their families.
* Managing challenging behaviors and implementing behavior support strategies.
* Assisting children with disabilities to participate in activities such as dance classes and community outings.
Skills & Qualifications
* Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including spinal and brain injuries.
* Confidence in supporting individuals with epilepsy and providing bowel/stoma care.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviors and follow structured behavior support plans.
* Strong personal care skills, including bathing, dressing, and medication assistance.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing routines and needs.
* A current Working With Children Check (WWCC), Police Check, First Aid Certificate, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
* A qualification in disability, community services, or related fields is highly regarded.
