At Jetstar, we are seeking an experienced and driven
Data Business Analyst
to lead data and analytics initiatives within the Commercial and Operations Domains, with a primary focus on the Engine Capex Optimisation initiative. This role blends strong skills in data analysis and BI with deep business analysis expertise, working across technical and business teams to define KPIs, business rules, and data solutions. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to unlock the full spectrum of customer data that supports Finance analytics and reporting needs.
The mission of this role is to maximise the value of data assets by enabling better finance understanding, smarter business decisions, and improved program outcomes. Working in close collaboration with data product leads, analytics engineers, and business teams, the Data Business Analyst will be responsible for aligning initiatives with business goals, driving discovery, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, impactful analytics solutions.
Key responsibilities
Lead discovery effort to understand needs (business rules, metrics and KPIs) and translate them into actionable analytics and data requirements in collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Collaborate with Finance business units and other data product leads to define supporting data products and semantic layers.
Collaborate with external technical vendors along with finance business units to support the solution delivery.
Elicit, define, document and model requirements (business, product, functional and non-functional), and processes (as-is, to-be) using effective business analysis techniques and tools.
Facilitate Agile work practices such as sprint planning, estimation, daily stand-ups, reporting and retrospectives to drive delivery of cross functional team
Serve as a trusted data advisor to stakeholders, supporting strategic and operational use of Finance data.
Support the creation of business semantic layers to streamline access to trusted data for reporting and analysis.
Assist with evaluating solutions with data teams and help define acceptance criteria and ensure the delivery of business needs.
To be considered for this role, you will have
Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments and leading cross-functional data delivery teams.
Experience creating detailed BRD, HLD, and LLD artefacts to support project execution.
Understanding of data testing, reference data management, and data quality practices.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake will be advantageous.
Familiarity with ERP, EPM, DBT (data build tool) for transforming and modelling data.
Understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and corporate finance would be advantageous.
Experience using Power BI for dashboard development and analytics delivery.
A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
