Signal News Tasmania is a developing Tasmanian news brand focused on accurate, accountable, and accessible reporting. We cover state politics, public policy, regional affairs, and issues impacting everyday Tasmanians, with an emphasis on transparency and public interest.
The Role
As a Reporter/Writer, you will:
* Research and write original news articles and explainers
* Cover Tasmanian politics, government, community issues, and public affairs
* Conduct interviews (in person, phone, or online) where required
* Work with editors to refine stories for publication across digital platforms
* Adhere to basic journalistic standards of accuracy, fairness, and attribution
Story frequency is flexible and can be discussed based on availability.
What we are looking for?
* Strong written communication skills
* An interest in journalism, politics, or public affairs
* Ability to research topics and verify information
* Reliability and respect for deadlines
* Journalism students, graduates, freelancers, or career-changers encouraged to apply
Prior newsroom experience is
not essential
