About us: Capricornia Offender Health Service (COHS) is responsible for the delivery of health service to Prisoners in the Capricornia Correctional Centre (CCC) and Capricornia Correctional Farm (CCF) including workcamps. COHS provides a health service to a fluctuating population of approximately 1090 male Prisoners within CCC and CCF. The needs of this client group vary widely and the COHS requires a flexible system that responds to urgent/non-urgent, complex, planned chronic care and preventative health needs. Prisoners can access appropriate primary care and emergency care equivalent to standard of that of the general community. COHS currently operates from a primary health care model of service delivery, with a multidisciplinary team, from the time the Prisoner enters the system, through transfers to other facilities, and to their release into the community. About the role: The purpose of this role is to provide advanced clinical leadership, management, and clinical expertise relevant to the care of male Prisoners at the Capricornia Correctional Centre and in the community setting for eligible Prisoners post release. The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) works in collaboration with the Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNC's), Nurse Educator (NE) and other COHS Senior Leadership Members to support the clinical Prisoner health service in provision of safe quality healthcare through exemplary clinical nursing standards of practice in correctional nursing. About you: Current registration as a Registered Nurse through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. A relevant postgraduate diploma or master's degree or working towards this will be highly regarded. Experience in correctional nursing is desirable.
