**About us**
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.
The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
AMAH Workforce Development and Education is a dynamic interdisciplinary team made up of clinicians and lived experience workers providing training and education to Nursing and Allied Health staff working in all areas of mental and addiction health. We work closely with management and staff to support cultural change and personal development using a collaborative approach.
The Lived Experience Workforce within Alfred Mental and Addiction Health is a growing and thriving workforce of designated lived experience roles. These roles include but are not limited to: Directors of Lived/Living Experience, Peer/Carer Program Coordinator, Senior Peer/Carer Support Workers, Consumer Consultants, Carer Consultants, Discovery College Leads and Educators, Peer/Carer Practice Leads and Peer/Carer Support Workers. We work across the Hospital and Emergency, Adult and Older Adult, Headspace and Infant Child Youth and Statewide Services including the Women's Mental Health Service and the Residential Eating Disorders Service.
**What you'll be doing**
Working in collaboration with the Manager of Carer Lived Experience Workforce Development, the Carer Peer Educator will undertake administrative and educational responsibilities for the delivery of the trainee program which will include co-ordination of day-to-day activities, co-facilitation of learning modules, support with discipline supervision & reflective practice. The position will also support the co-ordination of carer peer placement and assessment of job readiness of trainees through observation of experiential learning within the clinical mental health setting.
**About you**
- Lived experience as a family member/carer/supporter of a person experiencing mental health challenges
- Minimum 2 years' experience of working in a designated carer lived experience role in a mental health service
- A passion for the development and education for the lived experience workforce
- An understanding of co-design principles and experience in project management (desirable)
- Experience in providing supervision or workplace support to carer lived experience workforce (desirable)
- Experience delivering training and education/or co-facilitating groups for educational purposes (desirable)
- Formal qualifications are not essential for this role but may be helpful:
- Cert IV in Training and Assessment and/or adult education (or equivalent industry experience) or willingness to complete the Cert IV in TAE
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work
- Intentional Peer Support Training, or other peer workforce experience
- Australian working rights
- Full Covid-19 and 2024 Influenza vaccination
- Current Victorian Driver's License and be willing to undergo a Background Check
