About the Role

Full Time: 1.0 FTE (Full-time equivalent). Location: William Stimson Public School.

School psychologists are an essential part of the Department's school counselling service and work in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students, to complement and enhance the work of teachers to strengthen student learning and wellbeing outcomes, and help families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs.

This is a collegiate role offering opportunities for professional development and to make an impact on the lives of children and young people.

The successful candidate will be based at William Stimson Public School and will have opportunities to work across the lifespan with both primary and high school aged students, engaging with a diverse school community.

School psychologists receive supervision and participate in group and peer supervision as part of the broader school counselling team. You will collaborate with school communities, colleagues, and outside agencies, using the full range of skills as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Continuing professional development is supported, and the NSW Department of Education will support you to maintain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. William Stimson Public School is located in Southwestern Sydney in the Cowpasture Principal Network, with approximately 454 students. The school has a strong focus on evidence-based practices to support student learning.

Key Accountabilities
* Provides counselling and psychological services to students, individually and in groups, including short term therapeutic interventions within the constraints of training, experience and supervision.
* Engages with and implements the Professional Practice Framework for the NSW School Counselling Service.
* Works in consultation with the principal, school executive, staff and student support services to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes and implement departmental priorities.
* Contributes to the social, emotional, and academic development of students, including those with complex behavioural needs.
* Administers cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural assessments, reports results, and collaborates to improve learning, wellbeing and mental health outcomes.
* Works with learning and support teams, parents, carers and other agencies to develop appropriate school-based support for students.
* Responds as part of a team to assist schools experiencing serious incidents.
* Referral of students and/or families to external agencies to support health and wellbeing outcomes.
Essential Requirements
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and the Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
* General or Provisional Psychology Registration with active internship with the Psychology Board of Australia.
* Valid Working with Children Check clearance.
* Current and valid driver's licence and ability to travel between work sites.
* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Total Remuneration Package
Package valued up to $182,461 + incentives (where applicable). Base salary ranges from $101,122 - $160,983 plus leave loading and employer's superannuation contributions. Base salary rates above the minimum are dependent on professional experience. Note there is no automatic progression to the $160,983 SPAC salary level.

Access to SPAC is available once a school psychologist has progressed through salary steps and upon application for Advanced Certification level against the NSW School Counselling Service Professional Practice Framework.

The following questions must be addressed (half a page each):

* Experience in counselling using evidence-based interventions with understanding of mental health needs of children and young people.
* Experience in psychological assessment of children and young people, including case formulation and report writing.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to improve learning and wellbeing outcomes for diverse students.
