This role is responsible for the design, integration, and troubleshooting of low voltage electrical systems, including control systems, safety interlocks, and auxiliary equipment such as compactors, lifters, cameras, sensors, and telematics.
This is a hands‐on engineering role that works closely with manufacturing, service, and mechanical teams to deliver safe, compliant, and high performing vehicle solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
* Design, maintain, and improve low voltage (LV) electrical systems for mobile waste compactions equipment.
* Integrate and troubleshoot electrical components for hydraulic lifters, compactors, control panels, cameras, sensors, and auxiliary equipment
* Diagnose electrical faults and perform root cause analysis
* Develop and maintain wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation
* Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, ADRs, and WHS regulations
* Understand and apply electrical control of hydraulic systems
* Assist with CAD administration and ongoing development of engineering standards and systems
Collaboration & Support
* Work closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, production managers, and service managers.
* Provide technical support and training to manufacturing and service teams as required
* Contribute to continuous improvement of customer service and supplier processes
Safety, Compliance & Governance
* Comply with company policies, statutory obligations, and governance requirements
* Maintain confidentiality of intellectual property and customer information
* Ensure all work is performed in line with WHS requirements
* Actively contribute to a safe, respectful, and values-driven workplace
About you
Essential
* Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
* Proven experience with low voltage electrical systems
* Practical experience in electrical control systems, including hydraulics
* Proficiency with CAN bus systems
* Strong understanding of safety systems and electrical isolation procedures
* Experience working in a manufacturing environment
* Excellent problem‐solving, diagnostic, and communication skills
* Competency with Microsoft Office and relevant engineering software
Desirable
* Experience in automotive, heavy vehicle, or mobile equipment applications
* 3D CAD modelling skills
* Familiarity with telematics, GPS tracking, and fleet management systems
