About the Role
The Hospital Assistant supports the delivery of an efficient and effective catering and cleaning service to the patients and facilities within the Health Service.
Responsibilities include undertaking a range of cleaning duties, assisting with food preparation, delivering meals, loading and unloading the dishwasher, preparing trays for each meal, laundering residents' washing, and maintaining knowledge of food safety and hygiene.
Shift patterns: 06:*****:00 and 10:*****:00.
The team consists of 9 staff members including hospital assistants and a cook.
Responsibilities
Perform both indoor and outdoor cleaning tasks, including high-level cleaning.
Assist the cook in preparing food menus for patients and residents.
Deliver meals to patients and residents and collect trays afterwards.
Load and unload the dishwasher and prepare trays for each meal.
Perform laundry tasks for residents' washing.
Follow food safety and hygiene guidelines.
Collaborate closely with nurses, HSM, admin, dietitians, and other hospital assistants.
Attend mandatory training (online and face-to-face) and orientation sessions.
Qualifications and Experience
• Suitable for Aboriginal applicants is encouraged under GSE Rule 26.
• Experience in a cleaning or food service role is advantageous.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training.
• Ability to work shifts and collaborate with diverse health staff.
