This federal government department is leading major reforms in early childhood education and care. The team is focused on supporting providers to meet evolving legal and policy requirements, ensuring compliance and integrity across the sector.
Your new role
As an APS6 Legal Policy Officer, you will provide expert legal and policy advice to early childhood education and care providers. You will help interpret legislation, workplace instruments, and grant guidelines to ensure providers meet eligibility and compliance obligations under new government initiatives. You will:
 * Advise on service approval requirements, workplace instrument compliance, and fee regulation.
 * Draft legal advice, briefing notes, and stakeholder communications.
 * Support the development and review of grant agreements and reporting frameworks.
 * Collaborate with legal teams, policy officers, and sector stakeholders.
 * Contribute to guidance materials and engagement activities for providers.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong understanding of administrative law, employment law, and grants policy.
- Experience interpreting legal frameworks and translating them into practical advice.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Legal qualifications or relevant policy experience in government or regulated sectors.
