The OpportunityWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Technical Services Manager to lead our technical services team and support the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of mining operations.
This role is responsible for overseeing mine planning, geology, surveying, and engineering functions, ensuring alignment with operational goals and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time permanent role on an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster, preferably from Darwin, Cairns, Townsville, or Brisbane.What you'll do
1. Lead and manage the technical services team, including Mining Engineers, Geologists, Surveyors, Pit and Lab Technicians.
2. Develop and maintain mine plans in collaboration with operations, driving continuous improvement in mine design, scheduling, and operational efficiency.
3. Manage grade control drilling, sampling, QA/QC, assay reporting, resource reconciliation and technical databases.
4. Assist in the design, construction and management of either a contractor or owner-managed site-based laboratory facility.
5. Develop and maintain the Ground Control Management Plan and support safe pit, dump and surface operations.
6. Assist Avenira's Exploration Manager to manage all NT related tenements.
7. Ensure accurate and timely surveying and reporting of mine production and development.
8. Manage technical studies, feasibility assessments, and project evaluations.
9. Lead Technical Services planning, budgeting and cost control across mine engineering, geology and surveying.
10. Provide technical input into forecasts, strategic plans and operational improvement initiatives. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
11. Support the Resident Manager and act in the role when required.
What you'll bring
12. Bachelor's degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's preferred).
13. Extensive experience in mining operations, including in a leadership role, familiarity with flat-lying, orebodies is advantageous.
14. Demonstrated expertise in mine scheduling, geological modelling, grade control, sampling techniques, and laboratory setup and operations
15. Proficiency in mine planning and geology modelling software (e.g. Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan, Micromine, Datamine, Leapfrog Geo).
16. Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
17. Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
