Packing & Warehouse Operator

Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Packing & Warehouse Operator to join our team at our Yarraville VIC manufacturing site. You’ll be part of a supportive crew producing high‑quality sugar products for households and leading food brands across the country. You’ll play a key role in safely operating plant and packaging equipment, ensuring high quality production standards, and supporting the running of warehouse operations.
This is a permanent full‑time position reporting to the Packing Team Leader and operates on a 3‑weekly 12‑hour rotating shift roster averaging 36 hours per week. The roster consists of:
- Week 1: Monday D/S; Tuesday D/S; Wednesday N/S; Thursday N/S
- Week 2: Wednesday D/S; Thursday D/S; Friday D/S
- Week 3: Monday N/S; Tuesday N/S
What you’ll be doing
- Operate and monitor automated packaging machinery and equipment to produce high‑quality finished goods.
- Carry out warehouse activities including forklift operation, truck loading/unloading and inventory movement.
- Complete shift logs, production data, pre‑start checks and quality documentation accurately.
- Use SCADA systems and testing equipment to verify product quality.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and work with maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Support minor repairs and contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain food safety, cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with GMP requirements.
- Assist with stock dispatch and liaise with drivers to ensure Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance.
- Escalate any packaging or product issues and assist with hold or rework requirements.
- Support training and upskilling of others and contribute to effective shift handovers.
What you’ll bring
- High School Certificate.
- Current Forklift Licence (LF).
- High Risk Work Licence or trade qualification (fitting or electrical) will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, or warehouse environment.
- Sound literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and complete accurate documentation and records.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to follow procedures, meet production targets and maintain high accuracy.
- Strong teamwork, communication and adaptability.
- Flexibility to work rotating shiftwork and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
