About the role
We are recruiting for an honest and reliable Service Worker to join our Specialist Community Services (SCS) team at the Village in Woodbridge.
Reporting to the Cook and Service Lead, this is an opportunity to support people with a lived experience of severe and enduring mental illness, many of whom also have experiences of homelessness, to rebuild their lives through a recovery based program.
This service offers high support, shared house and independent living options with support from a professional team of support staff.

About the role
As the Service Worker, your role is to clean and maintain the residents living, eating and bathroom areas in addition to the facilities general administration areas.
Ensure that they are in a clean and orderly condition and will respond in a timely manner to areas requiring immediate attention.
Service Workers are required to assist the team with additional duties such as linen, laundering and meal service as required.
1 x Permanent Part-time position
25.5 hours per week - working across Monday to Thursday; and with availability to cover extra shifts as needed to cover staff absences.
Undertakes detailed cleaning of bedrooms and communal areas, ensuring high standards are maintained throughout.
Ensures that the correct cleaning agents are used in all duties, and correctly stored upon completion of duties.
Follow appropriate manual handling techniques when moving furniture during the course of cleaning duties.
Assists in preparing and serving meals and snacks.
Works within a Recovery Framework, in collaboration with clients/Consumers.
Adopt a team approach to support the work, co-operating closely with team members in order to ensure continuity of service and support and the provision of a high-quality service to clients/consumers.
Represents the organisation in a positive and professional manner at all times.
About you

Our expectations are that you have:
- Experience working in a similar position that included cleaning and/or infection control protocols and procedures
- An understanding (from work or personal experience) of those experiencing homelessness and/or living with a mental diagnosis and the impact on people’s daily lives
- Basic meal preparation and meal service including Foodsafe requirements
- Knowledge of the principles, procedures, regulations, manual handling and equipment used in cleaning operations
- Experience in General laundry practices and methods including the use of commercial machines
- Demonstrated ability to operate as an essential team member through the use of your effective time management, organisation and attention to detail skills
- Cultural awareness and empathy when interacting with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures
