Position
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Warehouse Manager to lead and optimise our warehouse and distribution operations. This role is responsible for overseeing bulk mailing operations, print and packaging materials handling, inventory control, dispatch, and freight management.
The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 8 years' warehousing and logistics experience, including significant system and process implementation projects, and a proven ability to manage and develop a team of up to 12 staff.
This is a leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
* Oversee all warehouse operations including receiving, storage, pick/pack, despatch and bulk mailing activities.
* Manage print and packaging materials inventory including company and client-owned stock, consumables, packaging materials and finished goods.
* Ensure accurate and timely order fulfilment across multiple customer streams.
* Maintain high standards of warehouse organisation, cleanliness and safety.
* Recommend, implement and maintain best practice warehouse layout and workflow design.
Freight & Cost Optimisation
* Lead freight carrier selection, rate negotiation and performance management.
* Analyse freight spend and implement cost-saving initiatives.
* Optimise despatch methods (parcel, pallet, bulk mail) to balance service levels and cost.
* Monitor and report on freight KPIs including DIFOT, damage rates and additional charges, cost per consignment.
Systems & Process Improvement
* Lead major system implementations impacting the warehouse (WMS, ERP integration, scanning and barcode systems, freight platforms).
* Develop and document SOPs across warehouse and mailing operations.
* Drive automation and workflow improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
* Use data and reporting to improve performance and decision-making.
* Manage inventory accuracy through cycle counting and stock control processes.
Team Leadership
* Lead, mentor and develop a team of up to 12 warehouse and despatch staff.
* Manage rostering, workload allocation and performance reviews.
* Foster a culture of accountability, safety and continuous improvement.
* Ensure training and cross-skilling across warehouse functions.
Compliance & Safety
* Ensure compliance with WHS regulations and safe operating procedures.
* Maintain equipment registers and oversee maintenance of warehouse equipment.
* Manage incident reporting and risk mitigation processes.
* Ensure compliance with Australia Post and other carrier requirements for bulk mailing.
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 8 years' experience in warehouse and logistics management.
* Strong experience in bulk mailing, print fulfilment and kitting, packaging materials handling or similar industries.
* Demonstrated experience with WMS implementations would be highly regarded.
* Proven track record in freight cost optimisation and carrier management.
* Experience managing teams of up to 12 staff.
* Strong inventory control and stock management expertise.
* Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and leadership capability.
* Forklift license (preferred).
* Experience with ERP/WMS systems implementation (Microsoft Dynamics) and freight platforms (highly desirable).
