Your Opportunity
The Drug and Alcohol Youth Service (DAYS) team is growing, and we are seeking casual Residential Youth Workers with an alcohol and other drug (AOD) focus to support the DAYS Residential Rehabilitation sites in East Perth and Carlisle.
Based at either Ease Perth or Carlisle, these roles will attract engaging Youth Workers who have a passion for working with young people in rehabilitation who often face complex issues.
- This is a 24 hour service with a rotating roster, therefore applicants MUST be available to work evening, night and also weekend shifts when required._
- **We have multiple casual position available for immediate start**_
Your Key Responsibilities
- Induct young people to the service
- Develop relationships with young people adhering to boundaries of care practice, endeavouring to understand and interpret their behaviour, thus influencing positive attitudinal and behavioural change
- Support client to progress towards achieving their goals
- Assist with meal proration
- Monitor client's personal care and hygiene and provide guidance to improve life skills
- Collaborate with the team in the care and management of young people who exhibit challenging behaviour
- Facilitate educational groups and recreational activities
- Assist in administering medications
- Informal Counselling
Requirements for Success
With a significant background in the AOD and/or in the child, youth & family sectors, you will be confident in your assessment processes. Other requirements include:
- A degree in a related field or a minimum of Certificate 4 with at least three years' experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience providing support and crisis intervention
- Strong knowledge of behaviour management and capacity to set boundaries and limits in a residential setting
- You must be available for 12-hour shifts covering a 7-day roster (combination of night and day shifts)
- An understanding of trauma-informed practice
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team to provide positive outcomes
- Evidence of up to date Covid 19 vaccination
- Full driver licence with no restrictions
Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
