Join Alinta Energy as a Tax Compliance Manager and play a pivotal role in ensuring the business meets all tax compliance obligations while supporting a energetic, growing energy company. Reporting to the Head of Tax within the Finance team, you’ll work in a collaborative environment where your expertise will help shape tax processes, provide technical guidance, and partner with stakeholders across the business.
About the role
This is a broad, hands-on role offering exposure to all aspects of tax compliance, ad-hoc advisory, and business partnering, with the opportunity to make a real impact as the business evolves.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and deliver accurate, timely tax compliance for the Group
- Prepare half-year and year-end tax effect accounting calculations and tax note disclosures for the Group
- Prepare and coordinate tax returns, BAS, PAYG, FBT, and related statutory filings, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and deadlines
- Provide technical tax advice and support to finance staff and business stakeholders
- Assist and support with the management of tax fixed asset registers
- Monitor changes in tax legislation, assess business impacts, and contribute to continuous improvement of tax processes and systems including maintaining relevant policies and procedures
- Build strong relationships across the business and with external advisors, supporting audit activities and fostering a culture of compliance and innovation
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or commerce, with CPA or CA accreditation
- Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in tax compliance, tax effect accounting, and/or tax advisory, ideally with some in-house exposure
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian tax legislation and regulatory environment
- Excellent stakeholder management, written and verbal communication skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented approach
- Experience with tax software (ideally CCH Integrator) and a continuous improvement mindset; energy sector experience is a plus but not essential
