About Our Role
At our organization, we are seeking a Control Systems Lead to join our team. This role is responsible for conducting design reviews, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of SCADA/PLC systems used in automation and process control.
The Control Systems Lead will be part of a multi-disciplined team, providing technical support services for automation and telemetry infrastructure. They will leverage problem-solving skills to troubleshoot, diagnose, and maintain the Urban Utilities SCADA network effectively.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead teams to ensure automation and telemetry infrastructure assets are appropriately maintained and operable.
* Work with stakeholders to ensure that safety, customer, and environmental risks are effectively managed.
* Manage specialist subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure all works meet client set response, rectification times, and associated KPIs.
* Lead operational and maintenance design reviews for new SCADA assets.
* Assist and review development and modification of SCADA software applications (HMI and PLC), plus database management and associated integrations.
* Manage Total Cost of Maintenance (TCOM) budget for all SCADA works.
* Provide troubleshooting support.
* Work with the Cybersecurity and IT team to ensure compliance through the implementation of best practices, including vulnerability assessments and other associated IT tasks with network security stakeholders.
* Provide ongoing data analysis and expert guidance on real-time improvement.
* SCADA outage planning and managing internal and external requirements and associated stakeholders.
* Provide subject matter expertise to respond to SCADA and telecommunications enquiries.
* Provide expert operations & maintenance input into SCADA asset planning, renewals, and creation processes, asset management policies, strategies & plans.
* Communicate/negotiate with internal and external stakeholders while representing and effectively managing the interests of Urban Utilities.
* Lead the development/use of information and management systems for the delivery of operational activities and programs.
Requirements:
* Qualification in engineering or equivalent experience.
* Comprehensive knowledge and experience with SCADA application and how it integrates into an operational environment.
* Ability to quickly pick-up differing software and hardware programming and configurations.
* Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Trade Certificate-3 or Certificate-4.
* Unrestricted Electrical Licence (desirable).
* Valid QLD drivers license.
* A minimum of 10 years' SCADA or associated discipline experience.
* Highly developed problem-solving, lateral thinking, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
* Highly developed skills and experience in dealing with customer, stakeholder, and regulator issues.
* Highly developed skills and experience in coaching and mentoring staff.
* Extensive experience in developing instructions and providing technical guidance on managing and effectively operating SCADA infrastructure.
* Success in working with internal and external delivery partners to achieve common goals.
* Self-motivation and willingness to accept challenges & deliver assigned projects as a leader of a team, member of a team, or individual.
