Tinka is a public practice offering an outsourced finance function for growing businesses. We provide services that help improve clients' accounting and bookkeeping functions, implement systems, create and maintain financial reporting, and manage a team to deliver day-to-day AP, AR, payroll and reconciliation processes.
Role Summary
This rare opportunity invites an experienced accountant to join a public practice firm as an Accountant. Working with a collaborative team, you'll oversee and manage a remote team of bookkeepers, ensuring high-quality, compliant financial record-keeping. You'll review delegated tasks, manage workflows, and support continuous process improvements while maintaining professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
Manage a review and approval process for remote team members in line with internal processes.
Delegate work across a remote accounting team.
Provide mentorship and performance feedback.
Work Allocation & Quality Control
Review completed work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
Ensure tasks meet Australian accounting and bookkeeping standards and deadlines.
Maintain internal control systems.
Adapt to practice management systems for task management.
Reporting & Compliance
Assist in formulating budgets and updating financial forecasts.
Examine operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure.
Introduce and maintain accounting systems, and advise on the selection and application of computer-based accounting systems.
Oversee preparation of financial reports and assist with reconciliations, BAS, IAS, payroll and superannuation.
Create and follow working papers.
Ensure compliance with Australian regulations and accounting standards.
Collaboration & Communication
Nurture client relationships, acting as the key contact for a subset of clients.
Act as liaison between offshore team, internal stakeholders and external advisors/auditors.
Maintain strong communication channels and provide updates.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.
Experience managing teams, including offshore staff.
Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Microsoft suite and other relevant software.
Strong knowledge of Australian tax (BAS/IAS), payroll, superannuation and compliance practices.
Excellent attention to detail, organisational ability and communication skills.
Degree in Accounting or relevant certification (CPA / BAS Agent / equivalent) preferred.
