Join an industry leader and make a positive change in the sustainable use of the world's natural resources. The Global Field Service Specialist – HPGR is a technical specialist position in the Global field service group who supports the HPGR grinding equipment for both capital plant and services.
Main Responsibilities
* Study, plan, and prepare for field work prior to arrival based on scope, drawings, specifications, and policies.
* Provide advisory service during installation, checkout, start‑up, and commissioning to ensure safety and proper equipment erection.
* Coordinate field activity with customer, subcontractors and Metso teams to maintain the schedule.
* Make mechanical and process measurements and collect historical data on equipment operation.
* Recommend improvements to operational methods and efficiency.
* Troubleshoot mechanical problems and advise on corrective actions and repairs.
* Communicate daily progress, problems, and delays to the Project Manager, Field Service Manager, and Engineering team.
* Keep accurate records of job progress, delays, problems, deliveries, changes, and errors.
* Write and submit detailed technical reports and daily construction reports.
* Document all job delays, ensure client comprehension and sign‑off.
* Communicate with the client to ensure satisfaction.
* Ensure proper documentation for extra work and time verification sheets.
* Train client personnel in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance of the equipment.
* Assist marketing of field service, retrofits, and spare parts.
* Submit accurate expense reports in line with Metso travel.
* Work in liaison with technical support staff.
* Recommend operating and maintenance procedures to ensure proper equipment function.
* Train customer staff and other Metso field service engineers/technicians.
* Visit customers with the sales force to develop and grow service business opportunities.
* Deliver technical seminars on safe maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Field Service Manager or General Manager.
Essential Qualifications & Skills
* Associate degree or similar in engineering or 5+ years relevant experience in millwright, automation, instrumentation, process, electrical, or welding.
* 3+ years sitework, installation, and mechanical commissioning of HPGR grinding equipment.
* Ability to obtain an international driver's licence and valid passport.
* Excellent problem‑solving, negotiation, persuasive, and communication skills.
* Excellent written and verbal English.
Desirable
* Previous experience with HPGR equipment and systems.
* Strong mechanical knowledge of associated pyro processes and procedures.
