**LEGAL & COMPLIANCE OFFICER**
**FULL-TIME**
Cranbrook School is seeking a Legal & Compliance Officer to join the Corporate Services
team. Based at the Senior School campus at Bellevue Hill, this is a full-time, permanent
position.
**ABOUT THE POSITION**
The Legal & Compliance Officer works as a collaborative member of the Corporate Services
team supporting the School with a variety of legal, risk and regulatory matters.
The role is varied, with responsibilities spanning legal, regulatory compliance and risk
management tasks, and which include co-ordination of responses for regulatory requests,
inspections and subpoenas; contributing to the development of policies, procedures and
training programs; advising on regulatory obligations; implementing changes to reflect
evolving legislation, policy or education industry standards; conducting investigations;
reviewing, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts; reviewing marketing materials;
and assisting the Company Secretary with corporate governance.
Attendance at early morning and evening board or committee meetings for company
secretarial duties will be required from time to time.
**ABOUT YOU**
You are a collaborative, service oriented and personable team player, with sound
commercial law knowledge, commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach to problem
solving. You can think clearly, prioritise to meet deadlines, and remain calm under pressure.
With tertiary qualifications in law, you are professional and possess exceptional
interpersonal and communication skills. You are looking for a busy, broad and varied role,
and are interested in working in the education sector.
**SELECTION CRITERIA**
- Tertiary qualifications in law
- At least 5 years experience including a period of time working in an in-house legal role
- Ability to manage competing priorities and time pressures, and a willingness to be
- involved in a wide variety of matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels
- Ability to work autonomously, as part of a team, and in co-ordination with other
- groups of the school community
- High level organisational and time management skills with the ability to work to tight
- deadlines and under pressure
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when
engaging with children.
Experience in the education sector and admission to practice as a solicitor in NSW would be
highly regarded.
