We're looking for a motivated and hands-on Shift Supervisor to support and lead our back shift operations at our Timber Mill in Bathurst, NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong Leading Hand or Team Leader who is ready to step up, take ownership, provide structure, and lead by example.
In this role, you'll oversee the afternoon operations end-to-end, ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent production. You'll play a key part in setting the tone for the shift -supporting your team, maintaining strong workflow, and working closely with the Processing Manager to hit production and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities:
* Promote and model safe, productive work practices, champion safety initiatives and continuous improvement.
* Manage morning mill start-up and board measurement processes in partnership with the Timber Machinist.
* Work closely with the Processing Manager and broader team to ensure Mill production aligns with volume and product mix requirements.
* Meet budget targets across production rate, total volume, recovery, staffing levels, and other key operational indicators.
* Lead, mentor, and train a high-performing team of sawmill operators – building capability and creating clear pathways for growth.
* Handle people performance, including coaching, values-aligned behaviour, and addressing conduct or disciplinary matters when required, escalating as appropriate.
* Drive continuous improvement across safety, workflow, quality and production processes, identifying opportunities to lift performance and efficiency.
Experience, Qualifications and skills:
* Strong leadership capability with experience supervising or coordinating teams.
* Previous experience in timber, sawmilling or manufacturing industry.
* Strong communication, problem solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgement.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively across departments.
* Must hold a current Driver's Licence.
