The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

About The Role

As an AOD Support Worker, this is your opportunity to provide practical and emotional support to participants in our Residential Rehabilitation Program. You will facilitate program engagement, daily routines, group participation and safe community interaction, contributing to a holistic approach to participant wellbeing.

Reporting to the Residential Service Manager, we have multiple casual vacancies available, this role is onsite located at the Eastern Bridge Program in The Basin, Victoria.

How You Will Make An Impact

* Provide practical and emotional support to participants, ensuring their holistic needs are met while promoting positive engagement in the program
* Conduct breathalyser and urine screening, assist with medication routines, ensure attendance at scheduled activities and transport participants to appointments as required
* Identify, respond to and support incidents involving participants, staff, property or community, and maintain accurate records and communication handovers
* Facilitate group sessions, record attendance and contribute to ongoing program development and continuous improvement
* Support recreational and community activities, supervise participant outings and maintain a safe, positive and recovery focused environment

What You Will Bring

* A qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Counselling, Community Services or related discipline (minimum Certificate IV)
* Experience in the AOD sector or broader social services environment
* Understanding of AOD harm minimisation principles, risk assessment, crisis response and trauma-informed practice
* Current First Aid and CPR certification
* A current Working with Children Check and Victorian Driver's Licence
* Ability to work within a rotating 24/7 roster, including morning, afternoon, night and sleepover shifts
