Hobart
Department of Health, Tasmania
Posted: 30 September
Offer description

Overview

The Short Stay Suite is a component of the Perioperative Precinct and incorporates Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA), Holding Bay, Same Day Discharge (SDD), 19 bed Surgical Ward and a standalone Endoscopy Suite. The Short Stay Suite is a fast-paced, high turnover unit which will provide learning opportunities across a diverse range of areas. As a member of the Perioperative Services operational support team, the Perioperative Support Services Officer provides cleaning, transport, administrative and other support services to ensure effective and efficient operation of the allocated area within Perioperative Services, contributing to safe quality patient care.

The Role

The role of a Perioperative Support Services Officer in the Department of Health Tasmania is vital because it ensures the smooth and safe operation of surgical services. These officers provide essential non-clinical support within the perioperative environment, including:

- Providing support services to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Short Stay Suite
- Preparing and maintaining the unit to meet strict hygiene and safety standards
- Transporting patients and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient surgical workflows
- Assisting clinical staff by managing supplies and maintaining sterile environments
- Contributing to, and participating as a member of the health care team

Their work directly supports surgeons, nurses, and anaesthetists, enabling them to focus on patient care. Without this role, the efficiency, safety, and effectiveness of surgical procedures would be significantly compromised, impacting patient outcomes and overall hospital operations.

You will need

- Demonstrated ability to maintain the cleanliness of equipment and the environment according to infection control guidelines, standards and processes
- Demonstrated ability to effectively monitor equipment and stores levels and initiate appropriate action
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise work, together with sound communication and interpersonal skills
