New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with special needs. With over 60 years of experience, we are committed to enhancing their quality of life and promoting their independence and inclusion in the community.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement individualized training programs based on each individual's goals and needs.
* Teach essential life skills such as personal hygiene, home maintenance, meal planning and preparation, money management, and community navigation.
* Assist individuals in developing social skills, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
* Provide support and encouragement to foster independence and self-confidence.
* Track progress and document outcomes for each individual.
Schedule and compensation
* A part-time or second job options with flexible availability: 25 - 40 hours per week (may include weekends).
* Schedules include: Monday-Friday 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM Canoga Park; Saturday and Sunday 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM Sherman Oaks; Monday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM Reseda; Saturday 8:00 AM - 12 PM Reseda; Sunday 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM Reseda; Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM Encino.
* Rate: $21.00 - $21.50 per hour.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Experience working with individuals with special needs or developmental disabilities preferred.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to create engaging and interactive lesson plans.
* Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
* Ability to adapt and modify instruction to accommodate individual needs and abilities.
* Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
* Authorized to work in the United States.
