The Tooling Department at Orora is a vital part of our operations, supporting all our sites across Australia and New Zealand. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and critical department within the business. Key Responsibilities
As a Machinist (Tool Maker), you will report to the Engineering Manager, working Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Precision tooling: Work to exact specifications and produce high-quality parts.
* Operate a range of metalworking equipment, including grinders, jigs, fixtures, manual and CNC machines, to meet precise tolerances.
* Make, maintain, and repair tools and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
* Read and interpret drawings.
* Test and modify manufactured articles.
* Collaborate with engineers and production teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.
What We Are Looking For
* A formal trade qualification in toolmaking or a related engineering discipline.
* At least 5+ years of experience in a toolmaking or machinist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong proficiency in operating CNC machines.
* Studied drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
* Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to overcome manufacturing challenges.
* An eye for detail and a passion for producing high-quality, precise work.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly across teams.
* Be passionate about safety and keeping everyone safe by following safe work practices and safety procedures.
* Willingness to learn and grow in the organisation.
* Willing to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes drug & alcohol testing.
