Job Title:
Construction Material Testing Specialist
About the Role:
This is a full-time position that involves sampling and testing of asphalt, aggregates, binders, and asphalt field compaction testing. The selected candidate will be responsible for day-to-day sampling and testing in accordance with specified requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Sampling and testing of construction materials to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards
2. Handling and management of chemicals in line with relevant safety protocols
3. Reporting, record keeping, and calibrations, including identification of non-conforming products
4. Maintaining good housekeeping of laboratory and surrounding areas
5. Providing technical support to production departments
Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
1. Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
2. Professional communication, written, and interpersonal skills
3. Honesty, confidence, and reliability
4. Commitment to workplace safety, quality, punctuality, reliability, respect for others, and teamwork
5. Current and valid driver's license
6. Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques (an advantage)
7. Previous experience in heavy industries or an interest in this field
8. Understanding of the asphalt industry
9. Knowledge of Australian standards for laboratories (training provided)
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and experience with QESTLAB (an advantage)
