About the role
In this role, you will provide professional social work services to Defence members and their families who may be experiencing high-risk or complex situations. You will manage a varied caseload, balancing autonomy with strong team collaboration, and contribute to outcomes that genuinely support Defence communities.
You will:
* Deliver face-to-face social work support to Defence members and their families
* Conduct welfare, risk, and crisis assessments
* Prepare detailed, high-quality reports aligned with Defence policies and procedures
* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
* Manage competing priorities while ensuring reports and assessments are completed on time and to a high standard
About you:
You are a committed and capable Social Worker who values both independence and teamwork. You're confident working with complexity, supported by strong assessment and communication skills.
You will bring:
* A degree qualification in Social Work
* Ideally 2+ years' postgraduate experience in a social work–related role
* Demonstrated crisis intervention and risk assessment experience
* Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong report-writing skills
* The ability to work effectively across a diverse caseload
* Availability for full-time or part-time hours
* A current Australian Driver's License and willingness to travel occasionally
* Australian Citizenship (mandatory requirement)

Additional requirements Appointment to this role is subject to successful completion of:
* Current Working With Children Check
* National Police Checks
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance
