About the Position Our client is currently looking for a dedicated and passionate full-time Sous Chef to join their team.

They are seeking someone who has a genuine love for working with food and a keen interest in crafting high-quality dishes that reflect the region’s culinary heritage. The ideal candidate should have hands-on kitchen experience, particularly with preparing fresh, local ingredients and working in a fast-paced, creative environment. Our client values both culinary skill and a positive work ethic and is excited to welcome someone who shares their commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.

This role reports directly to the Head Chef. 40hrs per week min. required. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

* Assist with menu planning, development, and recipe testing
* Lead allocated kitchen sections during service
* Prepare and cook menu items while ensuring food quality and presentation standards
* Support smooth coordination and timing during service periods and functions
* Train, mentor, and supervise junior kitchen staff
* Provide clear direction and maintain a professional, supportive work environment
* Promote and model Grünthal Brew’s organisational values in daily operations
* Maintain kitchen hygiene and food safety standards in accordance with legislative requirements and company policy
* Ensure compliance with existing food safety programs and procedures
* Assist with stock ordering, rotation, and inventory control
* Maintain effective waste management practices
* Support labour cost management through appropriate staffing coordination
* Acts as Kitchen Lead in the absence of the Head Chef
* Operates within approved budgets and established menu parameters
* Works within Grünthal Brew’s organisational values framework
* Complies with all food safety, workplace health and safety, and operational policies

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

* A relevant Diploma
* A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience
* Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen operations.
* Ability to assist the Head Chef in planning menus, developing recipes, and managing food costs.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff.
* Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with front-of-house and kitchen teams.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
* Excellent time management skills to ensure timely preparation and delivery of dishes.
* Sound understanding of food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and WHS requirements.
* Ability to monitor stock levels, manage ordering, and minimise food wastage.
* Keen attention to detail to ensure consistency, presentation, and quality of dishes.
* Positive attitude, reliability, and a proactive approach towards kitchen operations.
* Willingness to continuously improve culinary skills and stay updated with industry trends.
* Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with suppliers, management, and team members.
