Join our Crisis Support Space team as a Peer Worker, where you'll use your lived experience to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people experiencing mental health crises.
Working within the acute inpatient unit at Princess Alexandra Hospital, you'll bridge the gap between clinical care and community support, helping consumers navigate their recovery journey with hope and resilience.Support consumers transitioning from inpatient admission to community follow-up, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and the Crisis Support Space to ensure seamless, recovery-focused careDraw upon your personal lived/living experience of mental health, substance use and/or suicide to provide one-on-one peer support, share your recovery journey, and serve as a positive role model for consumers, carers and families
About You
We're looking for someone with genuine lived/living experience of mental health, substance use and/or suicide who is passionate about supporting others on their recovery journey and can bring empathy, insight and hope to this important role.
You can comfortably and purposefully share your personal recovery experiences to assist and educate consumers, carers, families and health professionals in meaningful waysYou have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships with diverse consumers and work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary teamYou demonstrate genuine empathy and cultural awareness, seeing issues from the consumer perspective and understanding the importance of recovery-oriented, strengths-based approaches
