Now living with dementia, 87‐year‐old Kathleen has her own room surrounded by memories but not many visitors. She is bright and friendly and enjoys talking about many topics. Her past interests included cake decorating and her job in the Air Force. Born in Cheshire, England, Kathleen spent most of her adult life in Perth. She is keen to have a friend to go for short walks, chat, and laugh.

Responsibilities

Volunteer visitors will:

• Provide companionship and social support to Kathleen.
• Go on short walks and have friendly conversations.

Qualifications

To become a volunteer visitor requires:

• An hour per week or fortnight for visits.
• A genuine interest in people.
• A caring and empathetic nature.
• A sunny disposition.
• Love for building new friendships.

Commitment

Regular – more than 6 months.
