Social Justice Champions - Intake Officer/s

Are you passionate about supporting people impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault? As our Intake Officer, you’ll be the welcoming face and guiding voice for clients taking their first steps toward safety and healing.

This role involves:

- Conduct compassionate intake assessments, prioritising each client’s choices and needs
- Schedule appointments and manage client data with accuracy and care
- Provide vital admin support to our Counselling, Outreach, and Advocacy teams
- Work closely with frontline staff to ensure clients receive seamless, high-quality support

About you

We are seeking candidates who:

- This is an early career and/or recent graduate opportunity to continue on a learning journey with an experienced and qualified team of counsellors and advocates.
- 0-2 years of experience in community services, counselling, or related field (including placement experience)
- Late stages completing or hold a tertiary qualification or higher in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or other relevant discipline.
- Passion for supporting individuals affected by domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
- Strong understanding of the impacts of domestic violence and a commitment to supporting clients in a respectful and empowering manner.
- Ability to develop a sense of safety and strong rapport with clients.
- Well-developed personal and professional boundaries, resilience and compliance with privacy and confidentiality.
- Strong understanding and experience working with Aboriginal peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- A non-judgmental, empathetic approach with a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Waratah provides free services to individuals, families and communities across the Southwest region who are impacted by domestic violence and/or sexual abuse/assault. Our services include adult and children\'s trauma-informed & specialised counselling, advocacy, court support, community and prevention programs and therapeutic group work.

Ideally, we are seeking a team of ambitious and early career social workers/psychologists to join Waratah. We expect that the opportunity will open doors to your broader career path working within Waratah for one of our programs.

Please note the role is a Social and Community Services (SACS) (WA) Interim Award Level 3 role. The advertised rate is the casual hourly rate (normal hours). The expectation is to be available for a minimum of 20hours per week. The role is office based (not work from home).
